PLACE :Idukki Dam and Wagamaon
As part of the B.Ed curriculum, we conducted the field trip to Idukki Dam and Wagamon Pine Forest on Friday 24/02/2023 as scheduled. The charge was Rs.1000 per person. The bus left Adoor at 6 am in morning. We had 49 students and 5 teachers. We reached Mundassery at 8.30 am and had breakfast at a local restaurant. The dishes were appam, idiapam, egg curry, vegetable curry and tea. After breakfast we continued our journey and reached Idukki Dam by 11 am. We all got tickets. The ticket charge was Rs.50 per person. After that we took the group in front of the arch where the name of the dam was written. Phones and bags are not allowed inside due to security concerns. So we kept them inside the bus. We were checked through the Multi Zone Walk Through Metal Detector and then let in. We went through Cheruthoni Dam. It was afternoon and the sun was shining. But there was also wind. Idukki Dam, built in an arch shape between two hills, could be seen while walking along Cheruthoni Dam. After a slow walk from there we reached Idukki Dam. On reaching the dam, our guide Sir George explained the dam and its functions and features in detail. After enjoying and learning about the natural beauty of the dam, we came out. It came out through a tunnel dug into the hill. The tunnel was built for the purpose of the dam. After coming down from the dam, we had lunch at a restaurant in Idukki. After that we headed back to Wagamon. On the way, the bus got a flat tire. After fixing it, the journey resumed. At 5.30 pm we reached the pine forest. We got inside after taking a ticket which cost 20 rs per person. It is a forest filled with dense pine trees. It is a scenic place to share peaceful moments of relaxation. We came out of the forest and bought the necessary items from the nearby shops. We left for home around 7pm. Had dinner on the way. After all the journey, I reached home around 12 o'clock in the night.
